Family Life
Curley J Ausmer was born in Delisle, Mississippi on May 27, 1923. His father was Jeremy Germain Ausmer, and his mother was Rosaline Williams Ausmer. By 1930, the family owned a farm at 415 Coast Route in Pass Christian. According to the 1930 census records, Curley lived with his father, ten siblings, and a young niece at the time.
Jeremy Ausmer was also born in Mississippi on March 23, 1883. He registered for WWI on September 12, 1918 as it was the only one of three dates for men over the age of 31 to register. He would have been about 35 at the time of registration.
He bought his property on February 17, 1910. The property was officially listed as the “south half of the southwest quarter of Section Nineteen in Township seven south of Range thirteen went to the ST. Stephens Meridian, Mississippi.” It was eighty-one and seven hundredths’ acres of land. Jarmie died in 1980 at the age of 97.

Brothers
Curley was not the only Ausmer boy to enlist in the service. In fact, all the men in the family served. Wallis the oldest son of Jarmie and Rosaline was born on March 25, 1906 in Pass Christian. He completed grammar school and then went on to work for R.A. Sellier on a farm. Wallis registered for WWII on October 16, 1940 and enlisted on September 11, 1942. His draft card describes him as 160 pounds and 5 foot 8 inches with a light brown complexion, black eyes, and grey hair. He went to Camp Shelby for training. He was part of the 4071st. Service Co. WMC. He was discharged on October 28, 1945 and died on August 6, 1961 and is buried at the Delisle Cetholic Cemetery.
Cornelius, the third oldest, was enlisted for WWII. He registered on October 14, 1940. His draft card describes him as 165 pounds and 5 foot 11 inches with a dark brown complexion, brown eyes, and black hair. Before his time in the war, Cornelius completed two years of high school and then started working as a laborer. He had one child with his wife, Bertha, before dying in 1986. His daughter, Diann M. Clark, died in 2009 leaving behind four children.
The fourth Ausmer sibling, Jonathan, was born on November 2, 1912. He registered on October 16, 1940 and enlisted at Camp Shelby on February 12, 1943 and was released from the US Army on November 10, 1944 with the status of Private. His draft card describes him as 175 pounds and 5 foot 11 inches with a dark brown complexion, black eyes, and black hair. Before serving, Jonathan worked for Phoenix Naval Stores in Gulfport. He died on September 1, 1990 and is buried at Saint Stephens Cemetery.
Wilmonth (Wilmer), born on December 13, 1918, enlisted in the US Army on July 13, 1942 and was not released until Nov. 1, 1945.His draft card describes him as 172 pounds and six feet tall with a light brown complexion, brown eyes, and black hair. He married Ida Mae Saucier sometime in 1953. Wilmonth passed on January 3, 1994 at age 75 and is buried at the Saint Stephens Cemetery in Pass Christian, Mississippi.
Perry, the youngest of the Ausmer brothers was born on March 23, 1928. Before registering on March 26, 1946 and enlisting on November 16, 1946, he had worked for Silvester Dedeaux at the Silvester Dedeaux residence. His draft card describes him as 145 pounds and six feet tall with a light brown complexion, brown eyes, and black hair. Perry had no known spouse or children and moved to Fordyce, Arkansas before his death on June 22, 1987.
Cornelius, the third oldest, was enlisted for WWII. He registered on October 14, 1940. His draft card describes him as 165 pounds and 5 foot 11 inches with a dark brown complexion, brown eyes, and black hair. Sisters
Curley’s oldest sister, Belle, was born in 1909. She completed elementary school up to seventh grade and then went on the work as a maid. She had a daughter named Cora in 1927, and later, Belle married Kelly Sancier and had three more children, Miramadora, Mabellins, and Vonnie Belle. Her last three children were born between 1931 and 1937.
Ellen Ausmer was born on September 17, 1914 and died on October 21, 2010. In that time, she married Leslie R. Martin and had 7 children. From those children, Ellen had 43 grandchildren, 102 great grand kids, and 65 great-great grandchildren.
Mary, the sixth Ausmer child was born on November 17, 1916. Her highest level of education was the 6th grade. Later in life she married Harry Dedeaux, who was born in 1911. He registered for WWII on October 16, 1940 and worked in Delisle for W A Tate. The description on his draft card was 130 pounds and 5 foot 8 inches with a light brown complextion, brown eyes and black hair. Together they had four daughters and a son- Senovia, Eunice J, Jane E, Dorothy, and Harry Dedeaux Jr. She died on November 29, 1998 and was buried at Saint Stephens Cemetery in Pass Christian, Mississippi. Of Harry and Mary’s children, Eunice had three sons and three daughters-giving them 6 grandchildren. From those grandchildren, they have 12 great grandkids and 17 great-great-grandkids.
Rosaline was born on August 9, 1921 and lived until the first of November 2001. She was buried at Saint Stephens Cemetery in Pass Christian, Mississippi.
Curley’s youngest sister, Vilma, was born on May 14, 1925. She went on to marry Stanley Joseph Bradley and had a child named Stanley Bradley Jr. and 5 grandchildren. Vilma died on July 3, 2014.

Curley married Mildred Dedeaux Ausmer who was born in Gulfport, Mississippi around 1935. Together they had a child named Elden/Aldon L. Ausmer in about 1942. Elden is currently seventy-eight.
